School of Data Science Faculty Affiliation

If you depend on data science and AI to advance your research and challenge your students, we invite you to join with the faculty and researchers already engaged with UTSA School of Data Science (SDS). We are a community that values collaboration with over 30 Core Faculty engaged in research and teaching pursuits to impact fields ranging from medicine to city planning to Texas history. You can join SDS as a Faculty Affiliate.

By becoming an Affiliate, you can better connect to the distributed data science and AI community at UTSA that unites through the school.  Faculty Affiliates can benefit from programming and resources at SDS and get involved by, for example,

  • Developing transdisciplinary grant proposals with SDS Core Faculty and other Affiliates that leverage assets housed within SDS
  • Serving on the program committees for major SDS events, including our annual Los Datos Conference, Draper Data Science Business Plan Competition, and Rowdy Datathon.
  • Participating in exploratory meetings with our current and prospective donors, funders, and partners who are committed to advancing research, creating knowledge, and developing talent in data science and AI.

Join SDS as a Faculty Affiliate by submitting this Statement of Interest form. It asks for the following information:

  • Cite your position – tenured, tenure track, and fixed term track faculty are all welcome
  • Describe your experience advancing and/or using data science and AI and your interest in the field overall (200 words max)
  • Indicate at least one area that you intend to engage and contribute at the school annually, such as in the examples noted above (100 words max)
  • Upload a CV and/or provide a link to your professional webpage

Statement of Interest forms are reviewed and appointments are offered by the SDS Faculty Council, usually within 30 days. Appointments are for an initial term of two years, renewable indefinitely dependent upon one’s engagement and contribution.

We look forward to you affiliating with the School of Data Science.  If you have questions, direct them to
