A nonprofit organization is a good fit for the program if able to:

  • Formulate a data-related problem to solve or question to be answered through research and data analysis/science skills;
  • Procure and share sufficient data to allow for the problem to be solved or the question to be answered; and
  • Support student(s) with adequate resources throughout the project duration, including technology, staff guidance and support, and physical space.

Selected projects, to be announced on April 26th, 2024, will provide student participants with hands-on experience, helping them hone their skills and gain expertise in consulting and collaborating with a community service lens.

This program is a crucial part of the School of Data Science’s mission to advance data-driven solutions in a digital economy.

By participating, students gain an understanding of how data can be leveraged to create sustainable social impact and develop the skills necessary to make meaningful contributions to society.

Selected nonprofits will be contacted to further discuss their project needs. Additionally, students and staff will also regularly coordinate with partners throughout the entire process to discuss updates and tailor solutions to their needs and capacity.
